There have been an increasing number of inquiries about what it takes to staff and run a convention, because more and more folks are coming out of the woodwork to request that a convention start again.

I love the idea of a convention being in Southwest Missouri or surrounding area, and would be happy to have this post act as a point of contact for those who would like to help start up and run a convention in the area.

If you are interested in helping to start a convention in the area, please comment below with why you want to be constaff or help in other ways, what your idea of a good convention experience is, and any skills you have that you would be willing to volunteer for the convention-building effort.

I will be more than happy to offer all of the knowledge I have on the subject as well. :3

First thing one must know, is that running a convention costs money, requires more legal paperwork than one might think, and it is staffed entirely by volunteers. Assuredly, it is the hardest 350-odd days you'll ever have fun.

Secondly, know that one can only fail at a thing, if one never tries. Taking chances is the path to success!

Finally, convention staff must be dedicated to spending about 4hrs a week on the convention, including meetings, throughout the year. This increases as the convention gets closer, sometimes 30+hrs a week in extreme cases.

And remember, no matter what; Every convention is a work of heart.

We'll always have the memories of the furry fandom's family reunion, but the world turns, and F3 is now a thing of the past.

After numerous attempts to get a devoted staff put together, it has become abundantly clear that there are very few people with the both the willingness, work ethic, and time, to put a convention together and keep it going. With so few people available to take the reigns and make a large event like this happen, it would be unfair to ask them to do all of the work themselves, so we dissolved the convention.

I am always willing to provide tips, help, guidelines, and advice, so that new events can avoid the mistakes made in F3's first years.

I have been getting a lot of questions about F3 convention lately due to the website not having any updates and registration being unavailable. Most folks have begun to assume that, with the convention dates looming ever closer, the lack of news must mean something that nobody wants to hear. Unfortunately, the rumors are correct.

I regret to inform you that due to my unexpected, sudden, and prolonged inability to work nearly every waking hour on the convention this year as I have in all previous years, F3con is not happening in 2015. While I hope that the difficulties surrounding the convention can be rectified in order for this to be a mere one-year hiatus, unless many more dedicated persons become staff who are devoted and motivated to actually working hard on the convention regularly throughout the year, it will not be possible for the convention to continue.

While there have been several awesome individuals who went above and beyond at the last minute in order to make the convention happen when no-one else was willing to, the majority of individuals who received credit as staff these past few years, did not actually earn that credit. It is a sad fact that one person can not put on a convention alone, no mater how dedicated they are. Even with regular advice from experienced staffers from other conventions and sporadic help from people who worked hard for a few weeks out of the year, it is an impossible task. And it is also incredibly unreasonable to expect one person to the the vast majority of the work, as has been the case with F3 Convention.

I was once told "Making a convention is the hardest 360 days you'll ever have fun.", and they were right in ways I never realized.

I am attempting to arrange for a series of smaller special events on the dates that the convention was scheduled to occur (november 20-22). Please vote in the poll on what event or events you would like to participate in, then stay tuned to the convention's social media outlets for updates on events and times.

It has come to my attention that one of the admins on this page had posted a wildly inappropriate message that in no way represents the convention, nor the thoughts of the staff or volunteers. The amin responsible for the offensive post had been removed from the page, and the post has been deleted.

Thank you to the person who notified me of this incident so quickly. Please accept my personal apology for those of you who were subjected to that apalling message.

Become part of an exclusive family who make dreams come true, and make a name for yourself while doing something amazing for your fandom!

F3 convention is currently taking applications for staff members (and volunteers)! Read on for more information!

There is a new variety of fun to be had when you are behind the scenes of a furry convention, from special opportunities to interact with the GOHs and discounted or free admission, to special staff gifts and/or exclusive events, and most fun, knowing that you had a big part in creating all of the smiles that you see in the convention center on con weekend!

Do you want something special and different to put on your resume? How does "Coordination Staff for an annual fund-raising event that benefits local non-profits" sound? You like? So will current and future employers, and F3con gives references! WOW!

Want to be a popufur, but don't know where to start? Many of the staffers of furry conventions are popular furries who became, or are becoming well-known in the fandom through their work helping conventions become increasingly awesome! Let everyone know how cool you really are, by volunteering your time to being effective staff of a convention, and word will travel fast!

Constaffing is not only the experience of a lifetime, it's a year-round one that never gets boring, and you get to do it again every year!

You don't have to know what you are doing or even where to begin! It is fine if you are inexperienced, so long as you are willing to learn and be productive in your position!

Not local? No problem! We have an online forum for staff communications between meetings, and all of our staff-wide meetings are held online. Some staff positions don't even require the staffer's presence at the convention itself! We have something for nearly everyone's availability and skill-set!

Qualified applicants are all or most of the following:

We have several positions open due to numerous bits of happy news for some of the staffers which has transformed their lives into something that requires so much time and attention that they are no longer able to fulfill their duties to the convention. We are glad for them, wish them the best, and hope to have them join us again at F3con this November, but we need to fill their positions to keep the convention running smoothly.

Sorry it has been so long since you have heard from us here at F3Con, we have all been really busy since we are trying to pull so many projects together.

Have you all been visiting the forums and interacting, we are still looking for art and story pieces for this years conbook, we are all eager to see your cosplays and works in progress for costumes, not to mention if you all want to host a panel or event there is a thread for that too.
