We have some very exciting news! It is with great pleasure that we'd like to announce the merger of Jolly Roger River Expeditions and Oregon Whitewater Adventures! We are expanding operations and going international. We will still be doing single day trips on the McKenzie and North Umpqua, and multi-day trips on the Deschutes, Grand Ronde, and Owyhee, and we will also be offering some high end tours partnered with local restaurateurs, breweries and wineries, for an all-inclusive 5-star experience. We will still do boat rescues under the Jolly Roger banner, but all tours are now going through OWA. So please visit the website, and book a tour! We are also undergoing a complete rebranding, so stay tuned for updates about our new look, feel, and tour options. Cheers to all you river folk out there and we hope to see you on the water!

Bear Camp Road Snow Removal Complete: Public Are Encouraged to Travel Carefully

Following the completion of snow removal on May 12th, Bear Camp Road is open for public travel for the recreation season. The RRSNF completed the plowing on Tuesday, removing what remained of the road’s winter snowpack.

The gates on the Galice Access Road are now open.

Not all BLM Oregon & Washington Medford District and RRSNF roads in the Bear Camp area have been maintained or checked after the winter season, which brought snow, high winds, and early- and late-season rains. Please: Drive with caution and prepare for road surfaces that may be tricky to navigate. With the current weather pattern bringing heavy rains and even snow in some higher elevations, make sure you're checking the weather forecast at US National Weather Service Medford Oregon.

Know Before You Go: Good preparation and driving habits are important when traveling on backcountry roads, as weather and road conditions may change rapidly. Be prepared with extra blankets, food and water, clothing, and emergency equipment. When driving, keep lights on, drive slowly and be prepared to stop for oncoming traffic, particularly on blind corners.

As always, Highway 199 (Redwood Highway) and U.S. Highway 101 are recommended for trailers, motor homes, and oversized vehicles year-round.

For additional information on the Bear Camp Road and current road status, contact the Gold Beach Ranger District (541-247-3600), Grants Pass Interagency Office (541-471-6500) or Wild Rivers Ranger District (541-592-4000).

Lean forward, keep your hips loose, dig-dig-dig, never give up.
Repeat.
This is what it looks like when all 4 parts of the mantra are ignored simultaneously.
