It is with deep sadness to share the passing of Garret Moffett, founder and owner of Springfield Walks for the past 20 years. Garret spent his career bringing history to life — for students, families, travelers, and lifelong learners. His passion for storytelling shaped countless experiences across our city.

Through his many tours, including the award‑winning Lincoln’s Ghost Walk, Garret created unforgettable moments that connected people to the legacy of Abraham Lincoln. His work inspired curiosity, laughter, reflection, and a deeper appreciation for the stories that make this community unique.

If you're hitting the history trail in Illinois this summer be sure to visit our friends in historical old Nauvoo, Illinois. The old 1840s village are original homes and workshops in a very pedestrian friendly village. Learn about Stephen Douglas and Lincoln's connection to the Mormons there.

Hey all, I heard that you were going to be visiting Springfield this summer, that's great to hear!

Take it from this local guide that Springfield is more than day or two, with so much going on Springfield can be 2-3 day overnight to see and do all there is! Make your hotel reservations soon!

Lincoln sites - Rt. 66 sites - African-American sites - History Comes Alive - Scheel's Sports Park, the largest air dome in the US of A - and more!!!
