Muskie, Walleye, Bass, Perch Fishing on Lake St. Clair and the Detroit River Captain Matt Marfuta has been fishing for over 3 decades.

He grew up fishing in the lakes and rivers in Southeast Michigan. His passion for fishing led him to compete in bass tournaments in his teens. Captain Matt has won multiple fishing tournaments including bass, muskie and walleye. He has fished from Northern Ontario for pike, to Paint Creek for trout to Florida for Sailfish. His fishing always led back to his love for Lake St. Clair and the Detroit

River. He now has turned his lifelong passion into a career. Captain Matt is dedicated to making certain his clients have the best fishing charter experience.

We have finished the first week of the 2026 season, creating lasting memories amidst adverse weather. Cold, windy, rainy conditions and dirty water did not deter us from achieving success. A 10-pound fish caught on Monday was a highlight, and it was released after pictures. Several big fish were caught during the week, with more fish arriving daily. Calmer weather would be appreciated.

Had a great time fishing the Manistee River with Blue Collar Charters this week. The 5-degree temperature and a river full of slush for our morning start didn’t slow Leland down from running us up and down the river chasing beautiful steelhead. We put the Mags rods work.

We thoroughly enjoyed our fishing experience in Puerto Vallarta with HighTidesFishing, who provided exceptional cuisine and outstanding staff. The views were breathtaking, and the fishing was truly remarkable. An experience that everyone should have. Now it's time to return home to Lake St. Clair and the Detroit River.

Perch continue to dominate catches. Smallmouth are still plentiful. Water temperatures are finally dropping, which should make for a great November on the river, jigging walleye!! 🎣
