“When it rains look for rainbows, when it’s dark look for stars.”
– Oscar Wilde

🌈 A pattern of afternoon storms has been creating ideal conditions for afternoon rainbows this week. As rain passes over the plateau heading east while the sun sets in the west Bryce Canyon visitors often find themselves in the perfect place for a vibrant sweep of color above an already colorful landscape.

⭐ But what does this stormy weather mean for the stars?

Today is day one of our centennial Astronomy Festival with stargazing at 10 p.m. every night through Saturday!

In the event that cloudy weather requires cancelling telescope viewing, we will post an update no later than 10 p.m. to our website at go.nps.gov/BryceConditions and our Twitter page at twitter.com/BryceCanyonNPS No account is needed to view the page.
