“Aren’t you bored on a cruise ship all day in Antarctica?” 😂

Honestly… we thought we might be!

But an Antarctica expedition cruise is NOTHING like a traditional cruise. Our days were packed with kayaking in Antarctica, shore landings, wildlife encounters, exploring the ship, educational presentations, and incredible scenery from the moment we woke up until we went to bed.

Here’s what a typical day looked like on our Antarctica trip:

🕢 7:30–8:30 AM: Breakfast + check the weather and conditions for the day
🛶 9 AM–12 PM: Kayaking + shore landing
🍽️ 12–1:30 PM: Lunch + explore the expedition ship
🛶 2–5 PM: Kayaking + another landing
🧭 5–6 PM: Debrief the day, prep for tomorrow + educational presentation
🛁 OR enjoy an empty hot tub or pool if you want to skip the presentation 😉
🍷 6:30–8:30 PM: Dinner + after-dinner bar talk with fellow travelers

And any little pockets of downtime? Those were usually spent getting geared up or out of our kayaking gear, showering, grabbing a snack, or just recovering because we were EXHAUSTED. 😂

We genuinely thought we’d run out of things to do on an Antarctica cruise, but the ship had SO much to offer during those brief moments of downtime.

And honestly? That’s one of the things we loved most about an Antarctica expedition. You get the adventure of kayaking and hiking among Antarctic landscapes and wildlife, but you still have a comfortable ship to come back to at the end of the day.

If you’re planning an Antarctica trip, Antarctica cruise, or Antarctica expedition, save this for later! ❄️🐧

ANTARCTICA TRAVEL GUIDE: everything you need to plan the trip of a lifetime 🐧
Save this before you start planning your Antarctica cruise 📌
✈️ How to get there: Fly into Ushuaia, Argentina (the “End of the World”) — most Antarctica expedition cruises depart from here across the Drake Passage, altho we flew from Punta arenas, Chile
📅 Best time to visit Antarctica: November–March (Antarctic summer) — book 6-12 months ahead for the best cabin selection and pricing
🚢 What to look for in an Antarctica cruise: → Small-ship expeditions (under 200 guests) = more zodiac landings + better wildlife access → Look for IAATO-certified operators for responsible tourism → Ask about kayaking, camping, and polar plunge add-ons
🐧 What you’ll see: penguin colonies (gentoo, chinstrap, adelie), humpback whales, leopard seals, icebergs the size of buildings
🧥 What to pack: waterproof layers, expedition parka (many cruises provide one), waterproof boots, polarized sunglasses
💰 Budget tip: Antarctica trip cost varies widely by cabin class and season — DM me for current rate breakdowns and how to book
This is the trip that ruins every other vacation for you. 🌍
