One country. Remarkably different worlds.
In Hanoi, the day starts slowly beside a lake β footpaths, tai chi, strong coffee. In Ho Chi Minh City, it starts with coffee dripping through a metal filter in an alley already in full motion. Same hour, same country, entirely different propositions.
That gap is the most useful thing to understand before planning a journey through Vietnam. The country's north holds karst countryside, terraced highlands, and sheltered bays; the center keeps imperial Hue and merchant-town Hoi An at a pace that rewards patience. Even Halong Bay is not one experience but dozens β vessel, route, and how long you stay aboard decide almost everything about it.
The instinct to collect regions is understandable. The better instinct is to choose which contrasts belong in one journey, and to leave a few genuinely beautiful places for another. Our new piece makes that case.
