Montecatini Terme will be our home base in Tuscany it's renowned for its thermal spas and long-standing tradition of health and wellness treatments. As part of the “Great Spa Towns of Europe” UNESCO World Heritage site, Montecatini reflects the historical and cultural significance of European spa culture.

The town is also celebrated for its elegant Art Nouveau and neo-Gothic architecture, offering a refined and relaxing atmosphere. Visitors can ride the historic funicular up to Montecatini Alto, the charming medieval hilltop village, to enjoy stunning views, cobbled streets, and authentic Tuscan dining.

Centrally located in Tuscany, Montecatini Terme serves as a convenient base for exploring nearby cultural treasures such as Florence, Lucca, and Pisa. Whether you’re seeking rejuvenation, history, or scenic beauty, Montecatini offers a perfect blend of all three.

Weekend on the Namekagon. Friday was day 1, Big Bend to Trego, 7.9 miles, 2.9 miles per hour. Surprisingly fast since we took a lot of breaks. Eagles followed us down the river and mama merganzers and her chicks were around every bend. Light rain, the river was like glass, and we had it to ourselves.

This is Nico, he was our Collette tour manager in Italy. Nico is Sicilian and did a great job taking care of us from start to finish. He was so knowledgeable, had a good sense of humor and was very proud of his country. Collette's guides and tour managers are the best!

I had one of the best meals in my life in Italy. Actually several dishes I've had the pleasure of eating in Italy are very memorable. It's no secret that I'm addicted to arancini, but there's another dish that I can't stop thinking about. While we were in Sorrento we wandered into the family run restaurant "Ristorante Le Grazie" on one of the back streets. I ordered the spaghetti carbonara. It's a very simple dish and was cooked to absolute perfection. Travel while you can!

One of my good friends made this lovely travel wallet for me. Inside of it was a special message. So true Char, so true.

I really love Italy, this tour just reinforced how much. We went a day early and had a pre tour night in Palermo before the tour started and it was the right decision. We had a good night's rest and started to explore Palermo. We stopped at this little piazza for a cold beverage.

When I needed a new carry-on I agonized over which brand for months. I read reviews and asked colleagues what they used. One brand “Away” was always at the top of my list but it was pricey. My Away international carry-on has been on 3 trips now and I absolutely made the right choice. The inside compartments are layed out well and help keep me organized, it’s lightweight, rolls effortlessly and has a lifetime warranty. Gus however is not impressed.

Wow! I’m fresh back from Orlando and still riding the high from my very first Crystal Conference and Award Show with my incredible host agency (family) KHM Travel Group! 🎉✨ Hands down, one of the best conferences I’ve ever attended!

I met some truly amazing people—travel agents are such a fun bunch! I had the honor of connecting with some of the most inspiring women in the travel industry, including the incredible Anita Pagliasso and Vicki Freed from Royal Caribbean. Plus, I got to meet face-to-face with some of our top travel partners, like Lucretia Webb from Delta Vacations, Ryan Grissett from Collette, and about 40 others—networking heaven!

And let’s talk about the incredible experiences—a private concert by the insanely talented Mo5aic, a sneak peek of the brand-new “Celebration of Prince” show debuting on Norwegian Cruise Line, and an unforgettable time at Universal Orlando. Some of our award-winning agents even got to ride on a Mardi Gras float! 🎭🎶 We wrapped things up with a silent disco and a Virgin Voyages party—what a whirlwind of fun!

And the best part? Next year’s conference is happening on a 7-day Western Caribbean cruise aboard Norwegian Encore! 🚢🌊 You better believe I signed up the second registration opened—I wouldn’t miss it for the world!

My Story

I’ve spent nearly 30 years as a photojournalist. It’s can be a difficult occupation, hard on the body. After so many years of hauling gear around the world it was time to retire to our 32 acre Peacefield Farm, in Stanchfield, Minnesota. I’ll never lose my wanderlust to explore the world and absolutely love that I can now help others fulfill their travel dreams.

Countries I’ve traveled to or worked in: Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Kashmir, India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Sudan, Tanzania, Liberia, Ethiopia, Jordan, Kenya, Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Uganda, United Arab Emeritus, Zanzibar (ok, not a country but still an oh so cool island off Tanzania) Burundi, Honduras, Nicaragua, Canada, Mexico, Netherlands, Germany, Haiti, Ireland, United Kingdom, Spain...so far.
