Fall might just be bike-path season at its best. 🚲🍂

Cooler temps, crisp mountain air and a little autumn color along the way? That sounds like a pretty good reason to keep the wheels turning long after summer starts winding down.

From easy lakeside cruises and riverside paths to paved routes through some of the High Sierra’s most spectacular scenery, these rides are all about slowing down, looking around and enjoying the journey.

🚲 Grab a bike, add a light layer and see where the path takes you.

You know Tahoe blue. But how about a little Tahoe yellow? 💛

Meet the Tahoe yellow cress. A tiny plant with one VERY exclusive address.

It grows naturally along the shores of Lake Tahoe and nowhere else on Earth.

This little High Sierra native has also staged quite the comeback after once coming dangerously close to extinction. Proof that sometimes one of Tahoe’s most remarkable residents is hiding right there in the sand beneath your feet. But be careful! Don't step or pull. Just look and love from afar. 🥰

Who decided fishing was a summer sport anyway? 🎣🍂

Sure, summer may be winding down, but your fishing season doesn’t have to go with it.

Fall in Tuolumne County brings those crisp Sierra mornings, comfortable days on the water and a whole lot of places to cast a line… from the Stanislaus River and Pinecrest Lake to alpine lakes tucked along Highway 108 and lower-elevation waters farther west.

And trout don’t exactly pack up after Labor Day. 😉 In fact, the regular trout season rolls right through mid-November, giving you plenty of time to trade summer crowds and hot afternoons for cool air, changing leaves and that very satisfying just one more cast feeling.

But the best part? With more than 78 lakes and waterways across Tuolumne County, you can pick your version of a fall fishing day. Riverbank. Lakeshore. Boat. Backcountry. Maybe a little leaf peeping 🍂 between casts.

🎣 So… are you putting the fishing gear away for the year, or are you just getting to the GOOD part?

Big wedding scenery doesn’t necessarily require a big city. Case in point: Bishop. ❤️💍

This welcoming Eastern Sierra town sits between two incredible mountain ranges with alpine forests, otherworldly desert landscapes, ancient trees, hot springs and some seriously impressive stargazing all within reach.

It’s a place where your wedding weekend can include hiking, exploring, soaking, eating and simply spending time together somewhere that feels worlds away from everyday life.

Small-town warmth. Very big backyard. Sounds like a beautiful beginning to us.

A century! That’s a long time to be around especially in the Sierra Nevada. Winter storms with heavy snowfall and hurricane–like winds. A barrage of summer fires. A continuous development of roads, freeways, and other buildings. And yet they still endure. Here remains the oldest buildings in California's High Sierra… a true testament of grit.

We talk a lot about the people who call the High Sierra home… but what about the REALLY local locals? 🐏🌲🐟

Some of the Sierra’s residents are so specialized you won’t find them anywhere else on Earth.

We’re talking Sierra Nevada bighorn sheep scaling impossible terrain, tiny brine shrimp by the TRILLIONS in Mono Lake, a Tahoe wildflower found only along the lake’s shores, fish built to survive the extremes of the Owens Valley, ancient giant sequoias… and even a very Sierra-specific toad.

From Lake Tahoe to Mammoth Lakes, Mono County, Yosemite, Bishop and the Southern Sierra, meet a few of the fascinating natives that make this mountain range unlike anywhere else.

Some parts of the High Sierra may already be dropping hints that fall is on the way. 🍂

Other spots? Summer is still very much hanging around. ☀️

Either way, after a good day of adventuring, sometimes the only thing your body wants is a nice long soak in some cool Sierra water.

And apparently it doesn’t matter whether that adventure body has two legs… or four. 😂🐾

Want to hike 🥾 part of the Pacific Crest Trail and get Lake Tahoe-area views in the same adventure? Echo Summit is calling.

Just south of South Lake Tahoe, this section of the PCT connects with the Tahoe Rim Trail for a stretch of pure Sierra beauty. Follow the trail north from Echo Summit and you’ll make your way along the shores of Echo Lakes, where granite, blue water, and mountain views make every step feel like summer done right.

And if your legs decide they’ve had enough on the way back? There’s even a water taxi option to help turn the day into more of a one-way adventure.

👇 A little PCT. A little Tahoe magic. A lot of reasons to hit the trail before summer slips away.
