A train ride through fall foliage? Southern Living says Virginia Scenic Railway based out of Staunton, Virginia is one of the South’s best. And yes, there’s still time to climb aboard for an autumn excursion!

Our suggestion? Make a whole getaway of it. Stay in Staunton and spend your time wandering historic streets, discovering independent shops and restaurants, catching Shakespeare, Frankenstein or The Witch at American Shakespeare Center's Blackfriars Playhouse, or diving into presidential history at the Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library & Museum .

Those fall colors won't last forever, but the memories you'll make with a fall trip to Staunton will stay with you.

What does it mean to bring the music of The Statler Brothers - Country Legends home to Staunton? We went straight to the source, asking Statler Brother Don Reid about his Staunton roots and the stories behind the songs featured in “Some I Wrote: A Musical Story of the Songs of the Statler Brothers,” opening at ShenanArts this week.

Adapted for the stage by Jeff and Cori McDaniel, the production brings a piece of Staunton’s musical history full circle. We're excited to invite visitors from 24 states to experience the musical's world premiere in the town that inspired so many of the group's songs.
