The July 4th Heritage Festival at the Overland Trail Museum in Sterling is an event for the whole family, featuring live music, historic speakers, children’s activities, delicious food, heritage crafters. Historical reenactors from the Logan County Arts League will be depicting local historical figures from the city and county such as Carrie Ayres, the first Sterling school teacher, and Mabel Frank Markham, proprietress of the Dailey Store. Mark Serour of Traces of the Past History Tours will be presenting “The Road to Statehood,” about Colorado in honor of our state’s 150th birthday.

The Peetz American Legion Post #134 is hosting a party in the park on July 4 with music, people, grills, food, and games starting at 5 pm. We are looking at traditional games such as sack races, eggs tosses, horse shoes, corn hole, etc. We will also be hosting a mural contest where residents will be encouraged to draw patriotic pictures and or slogans on Main Street with sidewalk chalk. Fireworks at dark.

The Town of Arriba will be holding an event on July 4th, 2026 to open the time capsule placed in 1976. We will start the event with a parade through town, followed with a ceremony honoring our Country, our State, and our community. We will open the 1976 Time Capsule making note of the unique items that were placed in it. We plan to place another 50 year time capsule. We will have a free community lunch, entertainment and games for all ages.
We believe that many Arriba alumni will attend with their families. We welcome any and all who attend this unique event.

The Wray Museum is proud to host Moments That Made Us, an exhibit from History Colorado created to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. Developed through a unique multi-state collaboration, this engaging exhibit highlights pivotal turning points in U.S. history. The exhibit opens July 1 and will remain on display through the end of the year. Visitors will encounter powerful stories of resilience, struggle, and triumph that have shaped our nation. By bringing this exhibit to Wray, the Museum invites the community to reflect on our shared past and consider how these defining moments continue to influence our lives today.
