Phew! May was a busy month! I know it's been awhile since I posted an update so here it is before I start another packed week of fishing.

Temps were very slow to warm up with all the rain and cold nights but the bass had to do their thing and we're now seeing a lot more post spawn females and males showing up on the shoreline. The males bring the average size down but they generally make up for it in numbers. June is usually a fun month to fish!

Salmon and trout have remained shallow with temps still in the 50s.

Warmer weather is in the forecast. Looking forward to more great days on the water this season.

Spring is here and things are starting to happen. The bite is picking up, fish are moving shallow, and there are plenty of good ones to be had right now.

Cold water hasn’t stopped the bite. Smallmouth are starting to move shallow, and there are plenty of good fish to be had right now.

The Union River flows quietly through Mariaville, Maine, offering miles of scenic water and healthy Smallmouth Bass fisheries—hard not to picture a summer day drifting, casting flies, sipping cold sweet tea and taking it all in.

As always, if this sounds heavenly to you as it does to us-write or call us for more information.

Just days after ice-out, we got out on the water near Bar Harbor not knowing what to expect. Cold water usually means slow fishing—but this trip had a few surprises.

Smallmouth Bass and Landlocked Salmon were both willing to play, and it turned into a great morning on the lake.

If you’re visiting Maine early in the season, don’t overlook the fishing. It can be better than you think.

Cold water, fresh ice-out conditions, and a surprisingly productive morning chasing Smallmouth Bass and Landlocked Salmon.

I really love fishing and guiding on the beautiful downeast lakes of Maine. Green lake, pictured here is one of the largest we fish regularly and for good reason. Smallmouth Bass, Lake Trout and Landlocked Salmon
