🇮🇹🇨🇭 Northern Italy & Switzerland...what an incredible journey!

We recently returned from Collette's Alpine Lakes & Scenic Trains tour through Northern Italy and Switzerland, and it truly exceeded my expectations.

Before the guided tour began, we added a two-night extension at beautiful Lake Como, giving us time to explore Bellagio, visit the Borromean Islands, and ease into the trip before meeting our group.

From there, we traveled through some of Europe's most breathtaking scenery...from Zermatt and St. Moritz to Lucerne and the iconic Glacier Express and Bernina Express. Every destination offered something unique, and together they created an unforgettable experience.

One of the reasons I enjoy guided tours so much is how seamless they are. Hotels, transportation, trains, luggage handling, many meals, sightseeing, and the day-to-day logistics are all taken care of, allowing you to focus on enjoying the destination instead of figuring out the details. At the same time, there was plenty of free time to wander, shop, enjoy local restaurants, and explore on our own.

Every style of travel has its place, and guided touring is one of my favorite ways to experience Europe. Having now traveled this itinerary myself, I can confidently recommend it to clients looking for a well-paced vacation that allows you to see so much without the stress of planning every detail.

One of the most impressive properties I toured during my recent Costa Rica visit was Nekajui, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, located on the exclusive Peninsula Papagayo. 🌴

This isn't just luxury... it's a completely different level of luxury!!

Perched high above the Pacific Ocean, the resort blends seamlessly into the surrounding landscape with breathtaking ocean views, incredible architecture, and a sense of privacy that is hard to describe until you experience it. Nekajui is the first Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Central and South America and one of only a handful of Reserve properties in the world.

What stood out to me most was the service. Every guest is assigned a personal "Manzu" (meaning friend), creating an incredibly personalized experience from arrival to departure. The attention to detail is exceptional, yet it still feels warm, welcoming, and authentically Costa Rican.

Why I Love the Arenal Region of Costa Rica 🌿

If you’re looking for the Costa Rica you see in magazines and travel shows, this is it.

The Arenal region is what most people dream about when they picture Costa Rica….lush rainforest, incredible wildlife, waterfalls, hanging bridges, thermal hot springs, and the iconic Arenal Volcano rising above it all.

I was fortunate enough to stay at both The Springs Resort and Nayara Gardens, and while they offer completely different experiences, they share one thing in common: they showcase the very best of Costa Rica.

The Springs is grand, dramatic, and full of adventure. Imagine soaking in multiple levels of thermal hot springs with volcano views, exploring waterfalls on property, spotting wildlife, and having enough activities to keep you busy for days.

Nayara Gardens feels like a hidden rainforest sanctuary. Private casitas tucked among tropical gardens, outdoor showers, intimate hot spring pools, personalized golf cart service, and a peaceful atmosphere that makes you feel completely disconnected from the outside world.

What I loved most is that neither property feels like you are simply staying at a resort. You’re immersed in the destination itself.
