But one of its most heartbreaking stories wasn't about an inmate at all.

In the early 1900s, the warden's daughter died from appendicitis, a devastating loss for the family that lived within the prison grounds.

Last season, the Haunted History Trolley Tour caught the attention of KARE 11, WCCO, and the Star Tribune, and introduced thousands of people to the stranger side of Stillwater.

As we head into our ninth season, we're building on that excitement with new stories, new characters, and new surprises drawn from the rich history of one of Minnesota's most fascinating river towns.

If you've ridden with us before, don't assume you know what's waiting around the next corner. Our creative team has been busy uncovering new tales, crafting new characters, and reimagining parts of the experience to give returning guests fresh surprises. The trolley may travel familiar streets, but the stories you'll encounter this year are anything but familiar.

If this is your first ride, there's never been a better time to climb aboard. If it's your second, third, or fourth, prepare to be delightfully unsettled.

After all, the trolley may be returning for its ninth season, but this is not a repeat performance.

We have officially and joyfully wrapped up our Princess of the St. Croix Valley Tour for the year! Our regular programming continues, however, and we hope to see you on the trolleys to learn more about our city's incredible history as the Birthplace of Minnesota.

We also wanted to acknowledge something very special. Stillwater, MN is so special for a variety of reasons, but one of the components that we feel that makes it so unique is the network of local business owners who strive to make it wonderful. Whether it is our local ice cream shop and diner hosting a social, or businesses coming together for a town dance, you see this kind of magic everywhere.

We personally have experienced this magic with businesses like The Lowell Inn and Water Street Inn. Whether they are partnering with us on a haunted tour, or they are the Lowell Inn adding special magic to our Princess Tour. We could not be more grateful for the neighborly mindset these incredible businesses have.

Thank you for perpetuating the idea that if we help each other, we all succeed!
