Thank you to the Manteca Bulletin for a story on the San Joaquin Council of Governments (SJCOG), City of Manteca, and San Joaquin County collaborating to fund a study to extend Roth Road to connect Interstate 5 and State Route 99.

Connecting I-5 and State Route 99 will reduce truck traffic in Lathrop and Manteca, enhance road safety, and support economic growth throughout the region. The study will build on the 2023 Roth Road Improvement Study and establish a future road alignment for right-of-way preservation, propose interim improvements to the State Route 99 frontage, and develop conceptual engineering and cost estimates for a new interchange.

SJCOG will serve as the lead agency overseeing consultant selection, contract management, and project coordination.

Check out the story on University of the Pacific’s website about the work graduate students did in creating the San Joaquin County Data Compass for the San Joaquin Council of Governments (SJCOG): https://tinyurl.com/5ad8v3pz.

“Fostering collaborative relationships to ultimately improve the lives of everyone in San Joaquin County is at the core of what we do,” SJCOG Deputy Director of Planning Kim Anderson said. “SJCOG has had long-standing partnerships with University of the Pacific’s Center for Business and Policy Research and the data science program on a variety of projects. Working with Pacific students on the San Joaquin County Data Compass will provide the public current census data and information tailored to San Joaquin and neighboring counties, while offering the students real world experiences that matter.”

Pacific’s Master of Data Science Students in the past have provided deep analysis of SJCOG programs such as the Vamos-EZHub Mobility app to plan and pay for transit trips throughout the region and beyond. The Center for Business and Policy Research is a regular partner in webinars and other activities to share regional economic analysis. Pacific students on the Stockton Campus through a partnership with Pacific’s Office of Sustainability benefit from Bike Stockton, a mobility program created under SJCOG’s Stockton Mobility Collective funded by a Sustainable Transportation Equity Project Implementation Grant from the California Air Resources Board. The project is now expanding under the state’s Clean Mobility Options Voucher Program.
