Inspired by the success of other groups like 100 Women Who Care and 100 Men Who Give a Damn, we’re bringing a great giving initiative to Cape May County. We’re planning to gather a bunch of Superheroes who care about our community and want to make a big impact.
The basic concept of making an immediate, direct and positive impact on the lives of our neighbors is to bring together 100 (or more) men, and women in Cape May County who care about local community causes and who are committed to community service. The group meets for about an hour on a quarterly basis, and jointly selects a local charity or not-for-profit organization. Every member writes a $100 check to the selected organization and watch how the group’s commitment turns into a $10,000+ donation. That charity gets a big stack of checks from all of our members as well as many new contacts and a lot of free awareness.
These meetings are done four times a year and the total commitment from each member is 4 hours and $400 a year.
Technically we don’t exist. We aren’t a charity and we have no bank account. Our volunteers simply organize the meetings where our members gather to support local charities. What’s great is that 100% of the donations go to the local charities. A great networking happy hour before each meeting helps connect like-minded professionals. There is literally no down side to this movement.
