This morning I picked up 3 guys at The Harbor Restaurant for a morning of hybrid striper fishing. They asked not to be in a social media picture - not because they should be at work, but because they didn’t invite a friend and didn’t want to deal with that😂😂😂

We fished 3 area for hybrid stripers. All hybrids were caught on live shad. Depths started at 24’ and we ended up fishing 47’ on our final stop. The fish that wouldn’t bite yesterday were eager to eat today.

We had hybrid limits with time to spare so we targeted white bass (sandies). We found numerous big schools - and we had lots of fish chasing our lures, but very few wanted to engage. They probably caught 10-15 on artificial before the biting gnats got after us and we headed to the dock a few minutes early.

This morning I met Charles, Daniel and Daniel (easy day of remembering names😂)
We left out of The Harbor Restaurant just after daybreak.

We made our first stop in 24’ - dropped live shad and before long we had our first fish in the cooler ….. then we searched a while and moved to another area of the lake.

We made a stop in 30’ and dropped baits, rods started bending and about 30 minutes later they moved on - 10 in the cooler at this point. Started searching again.
Our next 2 areas were deep water - 44-48’. Lots of fish here ….. but not very hungry. The ones that were - they were better than average fish for sure. We still needed 3 to hit limits - there was some artificial vertical fishing going on as well - I did a lot of this fishing my self - but Charles participated as well. We were running short on time and needed 1 more fish - my artificial rod hooked up and I passed it to Charles - hit limits with zero time to spare.

Sounds like today was just not a great hybrid day from talking to other guides who had no problem finding them - but getting them to eat was another story.

Appears the shad spawn has pretty much wrapped up for the year - there will still be a few pockets left, but the shallow bite is disappearing rapidly.

All but 1 hybrid striper were caught on live shad
Half the white bass and 1 keeper hybrid were caught on Zman Streakz. The other white bass were caught on live shad.

This morning I picked up Jeremi and this crew at The Harbor Restaurant just before day break.

We started off casting at the bank - lots of catfish caught on Zman Streakz, but not a single hybrid striper. Live bait caught 3 fish here. I really wanted to move on earlier than we did, but they were having fun casting - so we stayed a bit.

We fished all over today, 1 hybrid here, one there. Best stop was 39’ and live bait caught 7 fish here. We finished up with a keeper hybrid and a bunch of whites on Zman Streakz before the green pants showed up for a safety inspection (all good) and we called it a day.
Ended up 5 short on hybrids today 😞- had a crazy high amount of broken lines today - usually right at the snell knot on the hook.

These guys put together a big cooler of fish!

This morning I met returning customers Edgar (dad) Edgar (son) Sahan (nephew) and Rusty (just a friend I believe) at my dock before the sun came up and we set out for a morning of fishing. The drove up from the Austin area to fish with me today

We got set up and I offered out 2 artificial rods and the other 2 would work live bait rods - curve ball they sent 9yr old Sahan up on the bow to cast - he did well, but I was a little nervous and hid behind the console for safety - HE CAUGHT FISH! Live bait was off a bit today and we had a learning curve about how to hook set larger baits. We missed a bunch of fish😞
We left this area with 5 hybrids in the cooler and a few blues.

The rest of the morning I struggled to get on really active fish, caught 1 here and one there - we just couldn’t get them going.
Right at 10am they fired off and by 10:10am limits were met and we headed in!

Sahan was the reason for the trip I believe and he reeled in over half of the fish today! We was having a good time and napped perfectly during the slow fishing times 😂

This morning Boston brought out his crew (mostly family) to fish with me again.
They got a discounted room at Fisherman's Cove Lodge because they booked with me!
(Actually you get a discount to book with any guide but they chose me and it’s my report so..😂)

We left the dock promptly and found my usual fishing hole was dead today. It took us until 9:30 to catch our hybrid limits today with a few released. We fished with mostly live shad but Cody was using artificial most of the morning and he put 3-4 keepers in the cooler with Zman Streakz. (They were the bigger fish too). We moved around a lot today catching one here and one there until I found them thick - then it was one after another (18 keepers on our last stop 39’). (Released a few)

We already had a good amount of white bass in the cooler thanks to Cody and the Zman but since the hybrids took so long this morning I extended the trip another 30 minutes to get some white bass fishing in. We ended up with 50-60 sand bass in the box. Didn’t keep an accurate count since I knew we wouldn’t hit limits today. We fished 24-33’ for white bass - all caught on Zman Streakz
I want the MAL to work, but it’s still to fast for the fish right now.

‼️‼️Schools out bring the kids‼️‼️

This morning Karen and Darryl brought the grandkids Jade, Sophia and Syenna out for a morning of fishing. We met at The Harbor Restaurant, got loaded up hit the water.
We set up in 16’ and I couldn’t get baits down fast enough! We missed a bunch, broke a few lines but these girls and their grandparents got it done! About 30 minutes in I put a rod with a Zman Streakz in ‘Pawpaws’ hands and started reeling in blue cats and then after limits were met he boated and released at least 4 hybrids that would have been the biggest in the cooler! And then 5 or 6 normal keepers as icing on the top!
7:25 am and we left this area and started the search for white bass.

White bass were a little stubborn, but I don’t run to the dock when the fishing isn’t easy and hybrid limits are met - I search - stop - catch and repeat! We fished from 17 to 34’ with deeper waters being best. Most fish were caught on Zman Streakz, but a good number came on Darryl’s slab equipped rod and a few on MAL lures.
60 white bass met the cooler for their efforts!

These girls energy kept me running and smiling - they were having a blast!
Karen missed the picture - but she was there and she caught fish too!

Just for clarity- I hooked exactly one fish today and handed the rod to Darryl early in the morning - other than that one this crew did it all by themselves with a little coaching from me😎

Awesome morning of fishing with a great crew!

Woke up at 1am - old man peeing thing - looked at the radar and saw a big storm line headed our way. Instead of going back to sleep I went out and caught bait - 3am I start getting texts ‘what are you going to do?’ I was still out catching primo baits and let them know I had my bait😎 and then ran to the dock before the winds fired up!
Score 1 for the enlarged old man prostate 😂😂

This morning I met Stanley, Nate, Candice, Codi and Stacie at my dock with light rain and lightning all around us - just about day break we were in the clear and off we went. With FIVE people on the boat I had a plan - 2 could cast off the bow and 3 would use live bait. This was the safest way to fish FIVE people. Just FYI it will make sense in a while as to why I keep capitalizing FIVE.😐

We got set up in 16’. Stanley and Nate went to the bow and started slinging Zman Streakz while I tried to bait 3 live bait poles - between netting the catfish from the artificial poles and Candice smoking hybrids on live bait - barely got time to get bait for Cody and Stacy. Fish all over the deck again this morning! About 6:45 I tell them limits of hybrids are met and we are going to catch and release a few before moving on to white bass. Right about this point the artificial bites goes crazy and the live bait rods go silent. BIG fish being released!!! 8/9lb kinda big fish. 7-8 studs were caught and released - biggest of the morning ……. Then the action dies and I tell them it’s time to head to the dock to grab another cooler for the white bass. As we are pulling away Nate asked what’s the limit for hybrids “5 per person over 18””
He asks how many we have and I confidently said 20. He responds “there are 5 of us”. Right about now I feel like a complete idiot 😞
So anyways we needed 5 more - bait goes down and Candice smokes five keeper fish, but not giants back to back. Then every other rod goes down - just keeper fish nothing great. So now we had 25 and off to the dock we go at 7:28am

White bass …… still finicky today until right about quitting time when the sun broke through the clouds - 76 white bass hit the cooler. We used slabs, and Zman Streakz for all the white bass. We fished 15-31 this morning for white bass.

I have the next 2 days off for our grandchild graduating high school. Be back crushing them on Tuesday.
