“That’s a wrap until Nov”

This morning Garth and Pam met me at my dock for my last trip until fall. Fishing is tanking and I despise trolling so this time of year I will fish alone or with friends and catch up on lost sleep until November.

We left the dock at 6am. We fished our first area from 16-27’ and managed to put 6 keepers in the cooler. Shot across the lake and set up in 33’ - caught 3 here. Back across the lake and landed on a massive school - caught our last one for limits and switched to white bass.

White bass were plentiful but the bite was non existent. We tried with very little success.

This morning Boston and Ollie brought their parents out to do some hybrid fishing.
I picked them up at Fisherman's Cove Lodge at 6am and we set out in search of fish.

Today was lots of moving around and catching one or two here and there. Definitely not on fire. Our best fish broke lines while stripping drag today😞

That being said I count this trip as a win!
Tabor (dad) watched his kids and wife reel in most of the fish - he got to catch a few but seemed happy to watch his family get the action!

I am done booking until Nov when the action will pick back up again.

This morning Clint brought his sons Cole and Clayton for a meat haul morning!
We left my dock at 6am and proceeded to spend an hour searching for a bite😐

They spent hour number two in 33’ filling the hybrid striper limits. Wasn’t on fire but it was steady. We caught a handful of short hybrids (17”) which I haven’t encountered in a few weeks.

We stowed the live bait gear and switched to MAL lure equipped spinning gear. I was hoping to find fish we could cast at, but didn’t see anything good so we switched to vertical fishing. 14-20’ with lots of catch a few and move, catch a few and move.

When we started after them I really didn’t think we stood a chance of hitting 75 so I was slowly tossing them in the cooler as they were landed. Then we had flurries of 4 to 6 fish in a hurry followed by Cole’s steady catching
I started to worry about how many we had in the cooler and if I was going to have to empty it to count them. 💭running through a rough count in my head💭
Decided we were safe, then they slowed down and our time expired.

This was a fun group who were amazed at my boat setup and how everything worked together ….. well it is pretty cool😀
They picked up how to use the live sonar to help them catch fish pretty quick - and helped them load the cooler!

Water is 85+ degrees

I am booking for fall fishing starting in November. I am about to switch to night time fishing.
Aug 14th is still available for daylight fishing.

Yesterday morning I met Scott and Pat at The Harbor Restaurant for a morning of hybrid fishing.

They caught a limit, released a few and had me go in early to avoid the heat!

‘Smoke show for Nephew!’

I took this week off to hang out with my nephew who came in from New York without his parents. We started the vacation off with the purchase of some used jetskis (picture was to make his mom cringe, it’s what brothers do 😎)
He caught some catfish off the dock, learned to throw a castnet and was having a good time ….. but no hybrid stripers off the dock.

I made him get up early and off we went as the sun was rising.
Set up in 26’ and the non stop action started! I was netting fish and baiting hooks constantly. Nephew was busy catching fish and cracking jokes.

He wanted to catch fish and eat them the same day - we kept the deep hooked fish and released the lip hooked ones

2hrs / 35+ keepers and he said he was done!

For this time of year - amazing fishing!

He was fed blackened hybrid, blackened catfish and fried rice!

I still have a few dates open before Aug 15 when I shut down the daylight fishing until November

Hot water fishing is here 😐
We have decent days and we have incredible days and it changes without rhyme or reason.

Tuesday and Friday we moved around a lot didn’t find anything great all morning - caught them here and there - never had time to try for white bass.

Saturday- spent the first hour and fifteen minutes searching - found them on fire and put 25 keepers in the cooler in 20 minutes! Mayhem!!!!
Spent the next 2.5hrs targeting white bass - caught 35-40. Big schools of fish - not interested in what we were offering

Sunday - 6 man limit - fun trip with great group - we had a few double/ triple hook ups but mainly was one here and one there
Limits achieved at 9:30 so we just caught and released a few hybrids before heading in.

Hot water fishing isn’t my favorite thing - I have a few open dates before August 15th
After that I will go on an extended vacation and return for fall fishing when the lake turns over - booking for Nov 5th on

It’s been another great spring early summer and thanks to all my customers and friends that come out and fish with me year after year!

Not sure if I will offer dock light fishing trips this year - but if it’s good fishing - I will!

Today they were back to normal - thankfully!

Limits of hybrids plus - quick and 35 white bass in the cooler with them when the trip was over!

This morning Jason brought his son Chandler to fish with me. Jason has been out on multiple trips this year - but my first time fishing with Chandler. We left my dock about 5:45am in search of feeding hybrid stripers. We set up in 25’ and dropped baits - Jason landed a stud of a fish to start us off, followed by Chandler catching a 19” keeper. After yesterday … I was feeling hopeful. Then both hook up - 1 just barely legal and one decent one. I cringed as I released the barely legal fish that was lip hooked…..still feeling the pressure from yesterday’s not great trip.
Then rods started bending quick - good ones in the cooler - smaller lip hooked fish released - by 7:15 we had 9 in the cooler and released at least 6 fish looking for a gut hook or big fish to finish out the limit.
Jason caught a decent one and we closed the lid on the hybrid limits about 8am

Out came the MAL lure attached to spinning gear - I warned them the sand bass bite has been difficult the last few months. We made multiple stops this morning - usually they would catch 2-4 fish per stop. Putting 10 in the cooler off one stop was their best. When time was up 35 white bass in the cooler with their 10 hybrid stripers. 14-20’ was the biting fish zone today.

Today was one a 180 from yesterday!
We are back to catching!
