Record amounts of seaweed are burying Caribbean beaches this summer. Scientists say 2026 is on track to be one of the worst sargassum years ever recorded, and some resorts are already cutting prices up to 40%.
But it does not hit the whole Caribbean. The seaweed follows the currents, so a few islands stay almost completely clear all summer while others get buried.
