The Oklahoma FreeWheel community has lost a legend.

Hubie was more than a rider. He was a fixture on our roads, a familiar smile along the route, and a friend to generations of FreeWheelers.

We like to think that Hubie has now entered Velo Heaven.

Somewhere beyond the horizon, he’s caught up with the riders who went before him. They’re rolling down smooth roads under blue skies, swapping cycling stories, sharing laughs, and waiting for the rest of us at the next stop. Knowing Hubie, he’s probably already found a watering hole, the kind of place where riders gather, raise a glass, and tell one more story before getting back on the bike.

Thank you, Hubie, for the miles, the memories, the friendships, and the example you set for all of us. Your wheel tracks run deep across Oklahoma and through the hearts of countless FreeWheelers.

May you always have a tailwind.
