What a weekend on the water! 🎣🔥

Last weekend I helped with a 5-boat trip that turned into a friendly tournament—largest fish, most fish, and ugliest fish. We put 11 snook on the board, including a 40–41” stud, plus a 5’ nurse shark, snapper, and jacks.

We finished with the largest snook of the day and 2nd most fish—and didn’t catch a single inlet fish!

We also went from a 1-for-15 hookup ratio to 15-for-17. And I’m convinced a big part of that was because these guys didn’t bring any bananas on the boat! 🍌😂

I also made the switch to Seaworx Fishing fluorocarbon leaders and hooks. I’ve never been a huge fluoro believer (mostly because I’m cheap 😂), but these fish are getting smarter. Fluoro gives us better abrasion resistance around structure and doesn’t reflect as much light as mono, helping keep that leader less noticeable to wary snook.

Smarter fish require better gear, guidance and angling skills.

Great success! Probably one in a million 1-1/2 yr old babies to see mahi, sailfish, dolphin, several large turtles and kingfish all within there very first day out on the water! Blessed to be the father of such great kids! Don’t wait, don’t keep your babies in a bubble! Get them out on the water especially when the conditions are there to do it!

If y’all haven’t heard the good news already, you will now! 🎣

Florida now has more control helping manage our federal fisheries, and our Atlantic red snapper fishery is showing just how strong it is. We’ve got 8 snapper weekends this year — 5 in May/June and 3 more in October.

The bite has been absolutely 🔥 the last three weeks and should only keep improving. Grouper, tuna, amberjacks, snapper and more have been chewing hard. On top of that, the mahi bite out of Stuart has been one of the best I’ve seen in years. I do expect that bite to start tapering off as we get closer to June like it typically does, so now is the time to get offshore.

These private offshore “meat fishing” trips book fast during snapper season, so don’t wait.

The grunt bite was on fire today! So was the grouper and red snapper bite! Let’s go May 1st and May 22nd! OPEN RED SNAPPER SEASON Governor Ron DeSantis 3 red snapper on one 1 rig proves our snapper fishery is very strong, strong enough to give us more than 1 day a year.
