Florida now has more control helping manage our federal fisheries, and our Atlantic red snapper fishery is showing just how strong it is. We’ve got 8 snapper weekends this year — 5 in May/June and 3 more in October.

The bite has been absolutely 🔥 the last three weeks and should only keep improving. Grouper, tuna, amberjacks, snapper and more have been chewing hard. On top of that, the mahi bite out of Stuart has been one of the best I’ve seen in years. I do expect that bite to start tapering off as we get closer to June like it typically does, so now is the time to get offshore.

The grunt bite was on fire today! So was the grouper and red snapper bite! Let’s go May 1st and May 22nd! OPEN RED SNAPPER SEASON Governor Ron DeSantis 3 red snapper on one 1 rig proves our snapper fishery is very strong, strong enough to give us more than 1 day a year.

Just realized I’ve been slacking on the posts and updates under my business account lately, so here is Septembers fishing report. Mid septembers new moon and wind had the Tarpon fired up. I fished the Friday before the new moon, wind was howling 15-20 kts and then picked up to around 30 kts within a second. The tarpon started doing backflips out of the water. Landed 1 good one and that was enough tarpon work out for me. Sunday took George out “Night time fishing”, AKA fishing before the Sun is up. 5am- 12pm caught him a snapper slam, dog snapper, mutton snapper, and mangrove snapper. Then came tight and landed a nice big tarpon. The next week the weather laid down along with the bite. Last weekend, Lots of bait up by the power plant and tons of Small threadies around and lots of trout being caught. The grass is finally showing signs of improvement. We fished the annual Michael shield’s tournament Saturday which I must admit I didnt do as well as I would have liked to have done. I made a gamble based on some local knowledge and it didnt pan out. Like most days on the water it was still a wonderful and blessed day! We still caught plenty of fish, saw several eagle rays, a big bull shark and broke off on a mystery fish. I have next week blocked out for a big bid due next Friday but after that I should have some availability popping up! Give me a shout if you’d like to out. I believe this month should fire off and should be peak mullet run time for our area.

Last weekend we started off with a 1 and done throw with the net. Then ended up with several just below slot fish, several large jacks, bluefish and had an upper 30” fish case down a pilchard but never fully committed to the bait. Fishing should be great this weekend as well! If you don’t have plans for the weekend yet, hit us up and let’s get out there!
