I left my cabin early this morning and drove through the sleepy village of Sugar Hill on the way to Franconia, like I always do, and drove by this farm, like I always do... and wondered, like I always do, how to adequately photograph this scene. Sugar Hill IS a postcard. A living, breathing, changing, always transforming postcard. This morning as I lingered, wondering, the valley began to wake and fleeting blazes of sunrise light crept across the hilltops beyond the fog and mist. Then, there was no more time for wondering - and besides, the pulses of light and beckoning silos had answered my question anyway! I began to photograph what I saw.

No photoshop, no filters, no trickery. You never regret being out before sunup!

In 1875, Katherine and Robert P. Peckett Sr. opened Peckett's-on-Sugar Hill inn, which has views of the Presidential Range in the White Mountains. The inn originally catered to summertime guests.
