This time of year, everything here is lush & green. 🌳

Step out the front door of A Farmer's Retreat Cabin and be immediately greeted by the fresh mountain air and wildlife. Cook a quick dinner on the grill or steal a soak in the hot tub (or both, at the same time! 😉).

Our local rivers offer some of the best outdoor activities in the country.

🌊 If you're looking for a thrill, take your family & friends white-water rafting. We personally love Edge of the World Outfitters (you'll take a break during the rafting trip to be served AMAZING fried chicken with all the fixings, including homemade trail mix.)

🎣 For a bit of a slower speed, fly fishing! The real claim to fame here is the trout. They can be found in the cold and clean waters of streams and lakes around Boone and Sugar Mountain.

🥃 Blind Elk Taproom -- great place for a drink, with an impressive menu of rotational craft beer on tap
🍦 BE Scooped -- our final stop for ice cream (& homemade waffle cones 🤤 ) with the kiddos

Starting on July 4 through September 2, Sugar Mountain adapts its ski slopes to exhilarating downhill mountain biking and scenic lift rides. 🚡🚴

Ride the ski lift up to the top of Sugar Mountain, take a picnic to enjoy the big views, and hike out to the rocky summit. Mountain bikers take the lift up and then race down the trails to repeat.

Location, location, location! Doesn't get better than this. Sugar Mountain is a quaint little town with tons to do, and just a few hours from Raleigh. No matter the season, there are 3 amazing mountain towns nearby (Banner Elk, Blowing Rock, and Boone).

So much to do, so little time (so, stay a little longer)! ⛰️ ⌛
