One of my favorite spots on our 1.5 mile Bog Trail is the spot where water flows from an old mine. The mossy rocks and reflections of sky on water set a mood.

20 minutes south from the cabin is the New River Gorge Bridge. The Bridge is one of the most photographed places in West Virginia. The New River Gorge Bridge is the longest steel span in the western hemisphere. It is also the third highest bridge in the US. If you're afraid of heights, best pull off at the visitors center and then turn around and drive back. :-)

A text from a couple last month, " Hey, have you ever noticed the lights in the big bedroom turning on and off in middle of night and the battery candles coming on by themselves?"
While I was cleaning the cabin yesterday, I always check the little battery operated Harry Potter candles on the wood wall in the master bedroom. I turned them on and off and put in a new battery as one had died. I turned them on and back off and left the room. Before I locked up cabin, I walked back in there and the lights were off. Turned to leave and then remembered I needed to adjust heat. I walked back in there again and all the candles were turned on. Weird.......

Beneath the moon's pale, spectral glow,
Lies a valley veiled in frost and woe.
Tall trees loom, their branches bare,
Guardians of secrets steeped in despair.

A cabin rests, forlorn and still,
Shadowed by the towering hill.
Its timbers creak with an eerie song,
Echoing tales of days gone wrong.

The Mystic Pond, dark as night,
Shimmers faint in the ghostly light.
Ripples dance where none should tread,
Stirred by hands of the long-forgotten dead.

Once, this land was rich with coal,
Dug from depths by weary souls.
Now their whispers haunt the breeze,
Lost in the valley's timeless freeze.

The spirits rise on winter's breath,
Bound to this place by love and death.
Their eyes, unseen, watch and wait,
Chained to the valley by cruelest fate.

The full moon casts its silvery spell,
Binding the living to this haunted dell.
And as the night grows cold and deep,
The valley stirs—its secrets keep.
