ST BARTH: My recent visit to St. Barth exceeded every expectation. While this stunning French Caribbean island shines as a glamorous social hotspot, it can be equally romantic, wellness-focused, and family-friendly. The key is to choose the “right” property for your travel style. From boho beachfront hideaways and intimate boutique hotels to vibrant resorts, where you stay shapes your entire St. Barth experience.

Here are the places I visited:

Eden roc St Barths
For couples and friends seeking a high-glamour, ultra-luxury beachfront experience at the island’s social epicentre, St. Jean Beach.

Cheval Blanc St-Barth
For sophisticated travellers who enjoy quiet, space, and barefoot luxury in an elegant beachfront setting.

Hotel Le Toiny | St Barth
Ultra-private villa-style suites, each with a sizable pool and expansive outdoor living space—ideal for couples.

Rosewood Le Guanahani St. Barth
A family-friendly, and activity-oriented resort (the island’s largest), with tennis courts, a kids’ club, and extensive amenities.

Le Barthélemy Hotel & Spa • St. Barth
A contemporary, family-friendly resort set on the calm lagoon of Grand Cul-de-Sac.

Tropical Hotel St Barth
A retro-tropical escape with a small footprint—ideal for friends and surprisingly economical (by St. Barth standards). While not beachfront, St. Jean Beach is a 5-minute walk away.

Also, for families or groups of friends, villas can offer privacy and competitive pricing compared to individual hotel suites. There are many villa rental companies across the island, but I highly recommend booking through a hotel-affiliated rental company as you’ll then have access to the hotel’s exclusive amenities. For example, by booking through Le Toiny Exclusive Properties, you receive 24/7 concierge, daily breakfast at Le Toiny and sunbeds at the hotel’s private beach club.

Sometimes in life (and travel), the best answer is simply, “Yes!”

Even if it means spending just 24 hours on a Caribbean island and convincing a longtime friend/colleague to join you.

Enroute to St. Barths, I made a one-night stop at Belmond La Samanna. Tucked on the French side of Saint Martin, this iconic resort blends French-Caribbean elegance with a laid-back beachfront vibe.

A perfect reminder that not every great travel experience needs a week-long stay.
