Can you Provide the MV Kearsarge her Next Chapter?

After much consideration, we've made the difficult decision to part with the retired MV Kearsarge Restaurant Ship.

We didn't make this decision lightly. Our hope was always to preserve the Kearsarge as a community asset. Over the years, we've explored ideas ranging from a welcome center and museum, to a wine bar and gathering space. We've had several close calls, but nothing panned out. Since November, we've continued storing her in hopes the right organization or business would be able to give her a new purpose. Unfortunately, the timing hasn't worked out for the groups we've spoken with, and we've realized we don't currently have the resources needed to continue with her upkeep.

The Kearsarge is certainly a project, but she still has plenty of potential. While the top deck was removed during an attempted purchase and preservation effort, the hull remains intact, and we still have the steel framework for the top deck structure and pilothouse. She would require significant work to restore, but many original features remain, including the bar and buffet area.

Whether you've dreamed of creating a unique houseboat, a floating tiki bar, a guest house on land, a fancy lawn ornament, or have another creative vision entirely, we'd love for someone to see their vision come to life. This is a unique chance to own a piece of Lake Sunapee history, and we'd love to see her begin a new chapter.

• 15' beam (widest point)
• ** Corrected** Approximately 14.6' tall while on the trailer
• Currently located on a specialized trailer

One challenge is timing. The trailer owner has an opportunity to sell the trailer, and unless someone wishes to purchase the trailer (approximately $60,000), the trailer will need to leave on Wednesday. Depending on logistics and road access, the trailer company may be able to assist with a local boat delivery on Wednesday if arrangements are made quickly.

We are accepting ALL offers, including donations, and would love to hear from anyone interested in acquiring the Kearsarge. We understand this is a unique project and would consider all proposals.
