May is Wildfire Awareness Month. 🔥🌲

A combination of factors is increasing wildfire risk in Central Oregon this summer. More than 70% of Oregon’s wildfires are human-caused. 😦
Protecting Central Oregon starts with all of us. 🐻 💛

🥾 Before heading outdoors, always check current fire restrictions and conditions.

☎️ Visit the Central Oregon Fire Info website or call the Central Oregon Fire Information Line at 1-800-523-4737.

🔥 Campfire responsibly. Use only existing fire rings and burn local wood.

Burning local firewood helps prevent the spread of invasive species while supporting local businesses, too.

🌲 Fires leave lasting scars on the landscape.
When in the backcountry, consider using a mound fire (built on a thick layer of mineral soil over a ground tarp) or a fire pan to avoid scorching the ground.

Warm evening? Skip the flames and enjoy Central Oregon’s incredible dark skies instead. 🌌

- Clear dry vegetation and debris around your home
- Create and maintain defensible space
- Make an evacuation plan.
