Stellar 4-hour trip at the Island 💫 You could catch as many calicos as you could handle. Easily over 50 released with some bonito and cuda action too! Miraculously we avoided the sea puppies crashing our party the whole trip. We did however get some fisherman friendly wildlife viewing in; Bald eagles and Sea turtles! 😍

It’s always fun to switch it up and crawl the harbor for some Spotted Bay Bass. Not only are they beautiful looking specimens, they also fight hard for their size! They were chewing the crank baits. The Terrova with foot pedal makes it easy working the docks

California scorpionfish, also called “sculpin,” are masters of camouflage and can blend almost perfectly into rocky reefs and kelp beds. Within 15-20 feet, red light fades almost completely making them almost invisible! They have venomous spines on their dorsal, pelvic, and a**l fins that can deliver a very painful sting if touched or stepped on. They’re a popular catch in Southern California and are excellent eating, with firm, white, flaky meat. They can live up to 15–20 years and grow to around 17 inches long! 🎣
