We’ve been keeping busy over here in Bad Axe Land! 🪚

Our new Assistant Sawmaker, Alex, started last week, and he’s already off to a running start. I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone take to sawmaking quite so naturally!

Alex comes to us with a background in fine woodworking. He graduated from Sam Beauford after spending nine months earning a professional diploma in Furniture Design. The skills and experience he picked up there have already been a huge asset as he begins his training as a sawmaker.

We’re incredibly excited to have Alex join the team, and we can’t wait for you all to meet him! He’ll be joining us at our trade shows next month, so if you see him behind the Bad Axe booth, be sure to stop by and say hello!

Care cards are included in every package. We want you to know how to take care of your saw—but also know that we’re here if something ever goes wrong. Drop your saw and break the handle? We've got a handful of our Panel Saws in stock and on the shelf, ready to head out the door. Most notably, only TWO 26" Rip-Cut Panel Saws remain. Ever.

Last year, we made the difficult decision to retire our 26" Panel Saw due to rising material costs. We've finally worked through the last of our remaining inventory, and once these final two are gone, there won't be any more (Don't worry, we are still offering our 22" and 24" Panel Saws).

A small change, but one we're really excited about. ✨

We're introducing a new medallion etch for our saws. While it's a fresh look, it also follows a long tradition in sawmaking. Historically, many sawmakers updated their medallions as companies evolved or changed ownership, creating a way to mark a new chapter while preserving the legacy behind the tools.

Bad Axe changed ownership in 2022, and after a few years of settling in and continuing to refine what we do, it finally felt like the right time to make this change.

The medallion may look different, but the things that matter most haven't changed: every saw is still made with the same dedication to quality, performance, and craftsmanship that you've come to expect from us.

My heart breaks watching the wildfires impact the BWCA this week. The smoke has been relentless, and the air quality has been some of the worst we've seen. Between Josh and me, we each had to miss a couple of days in the shop because of it.

Today is my makeup day, so it's just me in the shop sharpening saws with the lights off to make the work a little easier.

Hoping for relief soon—for everyone affected by the fires, the wildlife, and the incredible people working tirelessly to contain them.

After many years in our lineup, it's time to say goodbye to the 10" Luthier Saw.

As much as we've loved building this saw, the rising cost of steel (specifically .015 steel) has made it increasingly difficult to produce at a price that makes sense for both us and our customers. After a lot of consideration, we've made the decision to retire it.

For a limited time, we'll still be accepting custom orders before we close the books on this model. Once those order slots are filled, the 10" Luthier Saw will officially be retired.

If you've been thinking about adding one to your shop, now is the time.

Thank you to everyone who's trusted us to build one over the years. Every saw has been a privilege to make, and we're grateful it's been part of the Bad Axe lineup.

A few of our newest 14" Half-Back Saws are now up on the ready-to-ship page 👀

Filed 12ppi with a .025" plate, this saw was designed to feel fast and nimble at the bench while still having enough depth and length for more versatile joinery work.

We’ll have more small releases of the Half-Back coming in the months ahead as we continue building inventory. We’re intentionally pacing new releases so we can stay committed to realistic turnaround times and maintain the level of fit and finish we expect leaving the shop.

Right now it’s still just Josh and I building saws day-to-day until our newest employee relocates here from out of state, so we really appreciate everyone’s patience and support!

Two custom-made 16" Tenon Saws, each with its own personality.

Both feature maple handles but with different finishes. One is fitted with a black-oxide back and brass fasteners, paired with a checkered handle. The other features a nickel-coated back with matching nickel fasteners for a clean, classic look.
