Day 11: The Isle of Skye
The Food Edition

Dalriada Guest House has shown the most amazing hospitality. Ian and Scott have taken care of me with assurance and confidence. Breakfast and snacks have been fantastic. Lunch today was snacks on the road. Dinner was a fantastic meal at The View where I was once again assured of the kitchen’s ability to look after me well. The server was even a newly diagnosed Coeliac herself.

Day 11: The Isle of Skye Part 4

Old Man of Storr is one of several impressive rock formations created by the unique geological rock formations on The Isle of Skye. The goal was to reach a point a bit closer to the base. However, heavy rain and even hail cut the climb a bit short. It was still a spectacular site.

Day 11: The Isle of Skye Part 3

The Fairy Pools are a set of small waterfalls the form clear pools in a glen on The Isle of Skye. Legend has it, if you stick your face in one of the pools you will be beautiful forever. I was not quite so brave, but I did stick my hand in the water and splash some on my face. Maybe the fairies will be kind to me.
The start of the trail was windy, but sunny. However, closer to the end the rain started fairly heavy. Needless to say I was soaked by the time I got back to the car park.

Dunvegan Castle is another castle that is maintained and occasionally occupied to this day. The oldest standing parts of the castle date to the 1300s! The family also has a fantastic collection of historical artifacts.

Day 11: The Isle of Skye Part 1

Upon Neist Point sits an iconic lighthouse. Since the sun was shining this morning the decision was made to head straight out to this point. Great decision! The hike down and back, like most treks in Scotland, was a bit of a climb at points and the winds blew hard today, but the reward at the end was worth it!
