Adventure Is Out There! I can’t tell you how honored I am to have the privilege of taking my grand son on his first overland adventure. We made a plan to conquer Backway To Crown King and loaded up Spirit of Adventure. Hunter has a never give up, never surrender attitude, so we hoisted the black flag and pushed off for our grand adventure. First stop for the men was to get us a little ass at Lake Pleasent. We thanked them for their time and continued on. Miles up the road we arrived at the trail head and enjoyed a moment together at poser rock. We skipped some stones on the creek bed. We developed a plan to navigate a huge bolder that had fallen in the road. We traversed miles of treacherous cliff road to stare down the dangerous water fall, obstical. After numerous failed attempts and two near tip overs we managed to tame this beast. With the worst behind us we continued up the trail to the ”V” notch where we turtle decked our vessel with the front wheels 16” off the ground and no traction in the rear. Just when we thought all was lost I remembered we had a handyman jack. We lifted the rear and placed rocks underneath so that we could free ourselves from the Krakens grip. Just before sundown, we arrived at base camp and set up camp. With the base now secure we could focus our attention on our grumbling belly’s. Steak, its what’s for dinner! Grandpa whipped up some delicious Cajun steak and golden potatoes. After dinner we made s’mores for dessert and talked about man stuff around the camp fire. We stayed up late before finally retiring to the safety of our treehouse tent. Morning came early at around 5:30am. We quickly watered the bushes and got a fire started. The boys played an aggressive game of co****le and traversed a fallen tree over the stream while grandpa made breakfast. We had meat candy (bacon), eggs and potatoes as we watched a beautiful sunrise. We worked off breakfast with a small hike up the hill where we built a small memorial to Hunters dad and placed a rock with his name, on top. Daddy would be so proud of his little man and we just knew he was looking down on us. We added a few more adornments to the memorial and snuck in a homemade jar of moonshine for dad before packing up and continuing our travels. The route home was full of beautiful scenic mountain passes, desert cactus landscapes (which are in bloom), river crossings and forest canopies. It was the best days ever!
