I love my job, always have, but I saw a post today that kind of hit me in the gut. The other side of being a flight attendant that people don’t talk about. In this post from another Flight Attendant, when asked how she liked being a Flight Attendant, She responded “it’s okay”, but if you asked on a deeper level, she said she would mention: “how it’s the loneliest job. Not being able to keep friendships outside of aviation because no one understands the schedule. Missing events because you have to work. Feeling left out because your friends back home don’t invite you places because “you’re probably working”. No one ever checking in to see if you’re okay because “you’re constantly traveling”. This can definitely be one side of the coin. We sometimes have to work harder to maintain friendships outside of the industry. Sometimes we feel forgotten. It can be very lonely at times. If you know a flight attendant, please check in with them. It makes a difference, and means a lot. 😊
