To the brave men and women serving the US military in Alaska and around the world - thank you for your service! Weโ€™re grateful for your initial enlistment and for those who choose to re-enlist, continuing to serve our country. Your sacrifices donโ€™t go unnoticed, especially out here near Matanuska Glacier. ๐Ÿ™ ๐Ÿ“ธ :

Yesterday we lost our best, most fearless, and most beloved backguide, Copper โ€” aka Little Red Dog. He knew the glacier as well as any of us. Loyal, loving, wild, and fierce, he was an incredible friend to us all. There wonโ€™t be a day we donโ€™t think about him, and there will be a hole in our hearts forever. Copper is the kind of soul who never really leavesโ€”just runs a little farther ahead on the trail. Rest in peace, good boy. We all look forward to the day we see you again โ™ฅ๏ธ

Our hearts go out to & .namio who were the very best parents and companions.

Winter Solstice. The beginning of the light. Each day becomes a little brighter. We rejoice in knowing the dark times are coming to an end; even if we donโ€™t see it immediately. Some may look at the Winter Solstice as the shortest day of the year, but all we see are the long and bright days ahead.
