After conducting arborist work on Hat Island for 10 days I've attached a few pics. I'm not sure how a crew of 4 managed to wind up with so many hats on Hat Island, but we weren't suprised.
The mostly hidden remains of an old wooden lobster trap were a treat to find. It was hard to interpret the brand on the sill but it looked like possibly MH...aka my Great Uncle Milton Hennigar who passed 50 years ago.
Pictured is Harbormaster Josh aboard his lobsterboat checking mooring work done by my son in law Sam who is looking on. Josh's son elijah observes from the stern as he learns how to safely inspect a mooring. The hawser/chain area is a vulnerable weak point but the connection looked flawless. There is a lot of work required just in the maintenance of vessel moorings and when you find yourself in the vicinity of said mooring during low drain tides you learn to take advantage of such moments. Time and tide wait for no-one.
After such a hard winter it is encouraging to get out and see the surrounding beauty of God's creation. The stand of yellow birches here are healthy and abundant.
It is sobering when you realize each generation that comes and goes has their own distractions of life and may not take the time to relish moments like this.
I'm thankful for opportunities to share views and moments like this with family and friends. There are many similar islands nearby that can be explored as part of a custom charter with us.

These nice folks from Texas enjoyed a 3.5-4hr lobster charter departing from Bass Harbor. For folks visiting on Swan's Island we offer the same trip departing from our dock in Burnt Coat Harbor.
