Associated Press reports on the recurring delays in TEPO and the Japanese government's still elusive plan to collect and remove the highly radioactive melted nuclear fuel from the wreckage of the Fukushima reactors Daiichi wreckage site. (Just where all that high-level waste is supposed to go you might wonder? ahhhh... to contaminate somewhere else) The theoretical operation is now pushed off to 2037, likely even longer, if ever. There is no viable technology for this extremely dangerous "clean up" from 14 years ago. Meantime, ground and surface water from the mountains behind the nuclear wreckage site is still flowing into reactor basements and mingling with the cooling water that must be constantly pumped in to keep the radioactive piles from recriticality. All that radioactive water must then be treated and filtered by the on-again-off again Advanced [Radioactive] Liquid Processing System (ALPS) for treatment and filtration before then collected by Fukushima's huge and expanding tank farm before its dumped into the Pacific Ocean and on Japan's coastal fishing industry. Prevention is the only viable solution. No Nukes!

Apparently, not enough company executives from Westinghouse Electric and the electric utilities in South Carolina were arrested by the FBI and sent to prison to serve time on federal wire and mail fraud convictions. Caught red handed and pleading guilty for fleecing the S.C. Public Utilities Commission and electric ratepayers out of billions of dollars following the collapse of the AP-1000 construction project at V.C. Summer 2&3. The AP-1000 PWRs in Georgia weren't any better, just nobody went to jail in Georgia which was supposed to cost $14 billion for two units at Vogtle 3 & 4 turned out to be more than $36 billion. Still it was a steal now paid by collecting exorbitant rate hikes for the rest of their lives! Ten more AP-1000s Trump wants. How's he cashing in? Time for the "Irate Payer Pledge."

Commissioner Caputo's resignation speaks to just how outrageous gaming the NRC system has become... truly "No Regulatory Control."
