🐾 Susitna Sled Dog Adventures spotted at the new The Mat-Su, Alaska Gateway Visitor Center!

🐕❤️ We recently had the chance to attend an event at the brand new visitor center, and the kids had so much fun spotting photos of our dogs throughout the building.

Come visit the Gateway Visitor Center Open House on Wednesday, August 19 from 5:00–7:00 p.m. We’ll be there with some of our adorable puppies for you to meet and play with!

The dogs and us have been having so much fun this summer that we’ve been a little behind on sharing photos!

We are so lucky to spend our days sharing this life and sport with guests from all over! Her are some of the many awesome people we’ve had the pleasure of meeting this season.

Summer is flying by, but there’s still time to visit and have a sled dog adventure with our team! 🐕

Brothers Blackie and Beefcake 🖤

Martin and Kathy gifted Rohn and myself puppies of our choosing the winter of 24/25. Rohn chose the biggest puppy and named him beefcake . I chose the smallest sweetest male, Kaladin named him Blackie. Last winter these two got to enjoy being young dogs, racing with the puppy team during the SuDog 300. This season they will be training with the competitive race team. We can’t wait to see what these brothers accomplish. 🐾

Our two big summer projects are done and the dog yard is looking so fresh!

We have had so much rain the last few years we decided the yard needed some gravel. The big hurdle was due to a cold and very wet spring the ground was so saturated we could not drive any heavy equipment over the lawn into the dog yard to spread the gravel. Which means the entire yards worth of gravel had to be moved from the driveway to the dog yard mostly with a wheelbarrow. Small load by load. Everyone had an awesome spring workout from moving all of that gravel.

The next project on the list was painting dog houses. The last few years we have had gray dog houses but once we put the gray gravel into the dog yard, Rohn decided it looked too bleak and we opted to go with green houses. In addition to that Rohn decided to build 10 new insulated dog houses. We have been slowly switching to insulating all of our dog houses and this seemed like a great time to add a few more. That made for almost 80 houses to be painted. Mostly done by our handler, Winter. I’m pretty sure she never wants to see loads of gravel or green paint again 😂

Great teamwork and strong muscles make for a less muddy and lively looking dog yard!

Shout out to Annie Vet for giving Peso (and our other dogs) great care!

A few weeks ago Peso had a collision with another dog while running around and playing, which resulted in breaking bones in his foot. The break was in a way that they can’t do surgery, so Peso is switching between splits and a cast, enjoying bi weekly visits to the wonderful staff at Annie Vet! 3 weeks down, 3 weeks to go!
