Let’s talk about drink packages. Virtually all cruise lines have them in some shape or form. Are they for you? Is it worth the price? That’s a bunch of loaded questions for sure . Some things to keep in mind; Do you prefer excursions over staying on your ship? Does your cruise itinerary have multiple days at sea? I’m using Royal Caribbean as an example, but most cruises offer something similar. Couple things to keep in mind so you’re not shocked when you get the final bill: 1) If you’re in a cabin with two adults and one person wants the drink package, BOTH have to have it. It’s how the cruise lines are cracking down on package sharing. 2) Although the prices below aren’t entirely accurate, they do fluctuate like the stock market. Better to buy early and keep an eye on sales ( Which a good travel agent like myself 😉 would do) around holidays and you can easily cancel the original plan for the better fee. 3) if you wait to sign up for a drink package on the ship, just know you’re going to get the most expensive rate.
