New year, new face. The man behind it all, Ryan. He leads with kindness, humility, creativity & strength.
Here’s a little behind his journey in creating The Micro Village:
“I was recently asked the question, ‘if you could be brilliant in one subject, what would you choose?’ The answer came to me immediately. I would love to be a brilliant architectural designer. As things stand, I am far from brilliant at either architecture or design, but I immensely enjoy doing this work and I love the creative people I collaborate with.
I caught a love for design early on thanks to my mother, Jan Louise. At an early age she hauled me around Europe (once in a Ford Capri for a month) going to every museum and art collection small and large. I think this early exposure seared a love for design, art, and architecture in me that I am so grateful for; though at 13, sleeping in a hatchback was far from the glamor I observed at the Louvre.
As an adult, I spent 18 years working in my wife’s family area rug design and manufacturing business, a job that immersed me in the creative process. We would start with an idea, then build a design, dye the precisely correct colors, and finally weave together a custom rug to perfectly fit our client’s space. I also collaborated with a variety of designers, building showrooms from various furnishings, creating spaces both beautiful and functional to showcase the variety and brilliance of custom design.
Today I love to create spaces that people want to linger in, and short term rentals have been my newest outlet for this creative work. My hope is to provide beautiful spaces where community is built, families bond, honeymoons and weddings are celebrated, and people are able to rest after a long day working or exploring. I am very grateful to God for both the passion, gift, and opportunity to create.
I hope you enjoy this space as much as I enjoyed creating it. Enjoy!”
