At Fort Loudoun State Historic Park in Vonore, Tennessee you can step inside a full-scale 1750s British fort built during the French and Indian War. Walk through the reconstructed barracks, blacksmith shop, and powder magazine—all based on original archaeological digs. The fort sits on the edge of Tellico Lake, where you can fish, paddleboard, or kayak with mountain views all around. Inside the visitor center, there’s a museum packed with artifacts and a short film that tells the fort’s dramatic story, including its siege and surrender in 1760. On living history weekends, reenactors bring the fort to life with musket drills and period demonstrations.
