If you're hiking above 11,000 feet and you hear a high-pitched "eep!" it's likely a pika.

Pikas are sensitive to warming temperatures and spend much of their time hiding in the shadows and crevices of rocky talus slopes.

While they’re elusive and you probably won’t get too close, remember to always give wildlife plenty of space and never feed wild animals.
