Owned and operated by the von Trapp family—yes, that von Trapp family, made famous by The Sound of Music—this European-style alpine lodge blends Austrian heritage with warm Vermont hospitality.
After escaping Austria during World War II, the von Trapps eventually settled in Stowe, drawn to its sweeping landscapes that reminded them of the Austrian Alps. In 1950, they opened a lodge to share the beauty of the area and their deep love for nature, music, and community.
