The Mormon Flat Dam was constructed in 1925, creating Canyon Lake on the Salt River in the Superstition Wilderness. The Apache Trail was formed for the construction of four dams, the first and largest being the Roosevelt Dam in 1906. Canyon Lake will be closed for approximately four months September 8 of this year for maintenance on the Mormon Flat Dam. Our Apache Trail tour will continue to operate during this time, even though we won’t be able to enjoy the Dolly steamboat cruise for those four months.
