Yesterday was a truly special day at the Terre Haute Regional Airport as we officially celebrated the ribbon cutting for our newly constructed 6-box hangars. Moments like these remind us that airports are more than runways and buildings, they are gateways to opportunity, growth, and connection for an entire community.

These new 60x60 high-end hangars represent an important investment in the future of aviation here at THRA. Across the country, airports are facing a growing shortage of hangar space, and projects like this help ensure that airports like ours can continue to grow, attract new aviation activity, and support the future of air transportation in our region.

Each hangar has the capability to house anywhere from 1–4 aircraft depending on size, creating valuable new capacity for current and future tenants. During yesterday’s ceremony, we were proud to showcase an F100 aircraft that will soon occupy one of the new hangars. Bringing aircraft of that caliber and size to Terre Haute is an exciting milestone and a reflection of the momentum building at our airport.

Projects like this do not happen without strong partnerships, shared vision, and people who believe in what our airport can become. We want to sincerely thank everyone who helped make this project possible, including our Airport Board, Mayor, County Commissioners, Woolpert, and Hannig Construction, along with the many others who contributed behind the scenes.

This $5.1 million project was made possible through both local investment and critical federal support. THRA received $1.5 million through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), with the remaining funding provided locally by the airport.

This project has been a true passion project for our team, and seeing it completed is incredibly rewarding. Most importantly, it creates new opportunities for growth, business development, and aviation activity here at the Terre Haute Regional Airport.

Thank you to everyone who celebrated with us yesterday and to everyone who continues to support the future of this airport and our community!
