In past years, I would spend the days leading up to Black Friday and gathering all the "deals" from my suppliers and posting them.

But after 8+ years, I've realized that it's not about the deal, it's about the value a professional travel advisor brings to any vacation.

Pictures on the internet look great, but a professional who spends countless hours researching, participating in training and traveling to see the reality is what makes the real difference.

Some think planning a trip is just about finding the cheapest price, but it's not about the price if it's not the best fit. Just because some location was great for your neighbor, friends or coworker, it doesn't mean it's the best decision for you.

Ann Marie Foote has long been the go-to person for helping friends and family find great prices for vacations, and last year she got a call from someone she didn’t know. “They were planning a trip to Mexico, had picked out a resort online and wondered if I wouldn’t mind verifying their choice. “It just wasn’t a good fit for what they wanted, so I helped them with a new choice.”

That experience made Foote wonder if there were more of the same out there - people overwhelmed by the choices on the internet for travel. Having just completed her MBA (she’s employed full-time at Regional Hospital in Marketing) and with some extra time on her hands, she spent a few months researching, then decided to start her new hobby-job. “Some people do crafts or play golf, I research destinations and plan vacations! What could be more fun than that?”

“I really enjoy finding a perfect spot for my clients. For many, travel is their largest discretionary expense, and I want to help them spend wisely - that’s why I named my business Best Beach for Your Buck. I have two goals: get the best price so my clients can travel more often; and help people understand that working with a travel agent doesn’t add to the price of the vacation. Agents are paid via a commission built into the cost, whether it’s booked online or through an agent.
