How far in advance should I plan a trip to Scotland, England, or Ireland?

For most travelers, I recommend:

✈️ 6-9 months for cruises

🏴 9-12 months for Scotland and Ireland

🚂 12+ months for custom Europe itineraries, small group tours, and popular travel seasons

Planning early typically means:

✅ Better hotel availability

✅ Better flight options

✅ More tour choices

✅ More time to budget and make payments

One of the biggest mistakes I see travelers make is waiting until they're ready to travel before they start planning.

🚢 Sometimes the best experiences happen when you stay on the ship.

While Celebrity Beyond was docked in Costa Maya, I spent the day on a behind-the-scenes ship tour, including a visit to the bridge.

Seeing how a cruise ship operates from the inside was fascinating and gave me a whole new appreciation for what happens behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly.

It's one of the coolest cruise experiences I've ever had.
