Incredible moment as 50+ elk crossed the snake river in front of us on a rafting trip in the Tetons! This was our first day of a week long photography trip in partnership with natural habitat adventures.

Like so many, all of us at Wild Things were devastated to learn about the sudden loss of the Queen. She provided so much happiness and inspiration to locals and visitors from around the world. She changed Wyoming in the best way possible. I’ve kept a genealogy of her life since she first showed up in the northern Tetons, updated it with each generation, and I made my final edit yesterday. My 13 year old son and I make field guides to educate people about the regional natural history and is partly how we make our living. I want this particular guide to be free for anyone interested in a snapshot of her amazing life. Please share as you’d like. Print it, laminate it, put it on your post it on your fridge or whatever you’d like. If the FB quality is low, you can reach out for a higher-res PDF version. I’ve had bear biologists review this chart which helps give me high confidence that everything is correct. There is also a QR code at the top that will take you to a free webinar that I did on 399 a couple of years ago that takes a deeper dive into her life and what she meant to me and my family.

Our star guide, Jordan Creech, captured this once in a lifetime moment of a white newborn bison in Yellowstone a few days ago. This is an extremely rare sighting and has great spiritual significance to many. He is getting a lot of recognition for these photos since so few people saw this, let alone photographed it. Look for more national attention on his images at the Washington Post and possibly on NBC news. This was on an amazing trip in partnership with - and

We primarily focus on Rocky Mountain critters here at wild things but we also love to experience the wild world beyond Wyoming. This was an amazing opportunity to see a variant of orca that specializes in preying on other whales and marine mammals. The difference between males and females is very clear by the end of the clip.
