5 THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR TRAVEL AGENT -

1️⃣ I don’t travel for free! While it’s possible I’ll have the opportunity to earn travel discounts throughout my career (so that I have ability to attend more research trips to get insider info for my clients), I pay for my personal trips out of pocket.

2️⃣ I’m only paid via commission by the companies / vendors I book vacations through for my clients. And though I work SO INCREDIBLY HARD with / for my clients prior to their travels, I’m not compensated until they get home from their vacations! And each time a client cancels, that is hours of work that I do not get compensated for. To say this last two and a half years was a struggle (financially, mentally, etc.), would be putting it mildly.

3️⃣ Though I recognize I mostly post about tropical destinations, I am registered with SO many travel vendors as well (different cruise lines, all-inclusive resorts, Europe, etc.) So if you have a dream vacation destination in mind, please reach out - I would love to chat with you!

4️⃣ It doesn’t take more time to work with a travel agent like myself. Heck, it saves you time! As a travel agent, I do the research FOR you, put together vacation proposals for you, make payments for you, put together pre-vacation itineraries for you, book tours for you, etc.!

5️⃣ I discover most of my clients via social media & referrals! I am fortunate to work with family and friends on their vacations, but I work hard on social media to reach new people as well! And when people recommend my services to others, it means the absolute world to me!

Merry Christmas from Parrot Travel!

'Twas the night before Christmas, and far out at sea
Our vessel was sailing, as smooth as could be

The stockings were hung from the balcony chairs
With hope that St. Nicholas soon would be there

The children were nestled all snug in their uppers
Having just settled down from a Christmas Eve supper

And ma and myself, we were covered in aloe
A bit too much sun, in a pool, warm and shallow

When up in the sky, there arose such a clatter
I leapt from my bed to see what was the matter

To the sliding glass door, I flew like a flash
Well, more like a saunter, and less like a dash

And what to my skeptical eyes should appear
But a great shiny sleigh, and eight flying reindeer

They circled our ship, from starboard to port
As the moon lit the driver, a jolly old sort

Who called to his team, in a happy retort
"Now Dasher, now Dancer," so on and so forth

We raced through our cabin and into the hall
To the very top deck, in time for us all

To be awed by the sight of Old Santa's sleigh
As he lightly touched down, by the midnight buffet

With a bundle of goodies thrown over his back
He rose in the air and dropped down the smokestack

Santa went straight to work, and later we learned
He found every child's cabin, from the bow to the stern

Insides and oceanviews, balconies and suites
Santa filled every stocking, with toys and with treats

Until all his deliveries had been handled with care
Then he noted he still had a minute to spare

So he surfed the wave rider, with nary a fall
While Dasher and Dancer scaled the rock-climbing wall

And Prancer, who had always been fond of the cold
Tried the ice-skating rink, a sight to behold

And then with a whistle, Santa summoned his team
And he bade us farewell, silent nights and sweet dreams

And I heard him exclaim, as he flew out of view
Merry Christmas to all, and to all, a good cruise.

I have HUGE announcement!

Jimmy Maddox and I would like to announce the 2026 Grand Finale Piano Bar Nation Reunion Super Cruise!

We will be sailing February 4, 2026 from Fort Lauderdale for 10 nights aboard the beautiful Koningsdam sailing to Half Moon Cay Bahamas, St Thomas USVI, Antigua, St Kitts, St Croix USVI and San Juan Puerto Rico.

Jimmy (with special guest Monique) will be giving us 5 (yes FIVE) performances during the cruise!

And now for an explanation of the name of this cruise. The "Super" part is because this is a 10 night cruise instead of a 7 night cruise, AND the 2026 Super Bowl occurs during the cruise. And now for the "Grand Finale" part. Jimmy and I have determined that this will be the 5th and final Piano Bar Nation Reunion Cruise. That's right, this will be your last chance to see Jimmy in The Piano Bar aboard a Holland America' ship!

I would like to take a moment to give you all an update.

On Tuesday September 24 I went in for what I thought would be a catherization and placement of a Stent or 2 or 3. After the procedure I was informed I was being transferred to another nearby hospital for a triple or quadruple bypass surgery. I was admitted to the Cardiovascular ICU. On Thursday morning I had my surgery. The next morning I was able to ask my care team (using hand signals because there was a tube down my throat) whether I had 3 or 4 bypasses. The nurse that I asked said "you are an overachiever - you had 5! The care I have received here has been nothing short of exemplary at every level. My recovery has gone fantastic and today the last chest tube was removed. It looks like I will go home tomorrow!

I can't begin to thank my wife Debbie Achtenberg enough for the amazing care she has given me along with her daily visits. Gee, guess she really DOES love me!!I (there is a private joke in there).

Thank you everyone for your thoughts, prayers and positive vibes being sent my way. When I was being rolled into the OR for the catherization procedure, the song that was playing was Bob Marley's Three Little Birds! The lyrics are "Don't worry about a thing, because every little thing is going to be alright.

Not only is God great, but he has a sense of humor too!!

246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights. 2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning. 343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their next shift. 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol. 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift of saving lives and 1 K9 went to bed a good boy 🐾🐾

None of them saw past 10:00 am the next morning Sept 11, 2001. In the blink of an eye, their lives were cut short.
