In the famous words of Douglas Adams: “Don’t Panic!”

If you want to look up and see the night sky, Sleeping Bear Dunes is the perfect place to do that! After all, half the park is after dark. You may not see a restaurant at the end of the universe, you’ll at least be able to see the beautiful dark sky. Because space is big, really big, and that means there is so much to look at! It can take over 20 minutes for your eyes to adjust to the dark, so be ready to spend quite a bit of time outside and looking up.

If you plan on coming to see the night sky, remember to:

Bring your park pass.

Pack an extra light. Don’t rely on only your phone flashlight!

Dress in layers or bring an extra layer.

Leave No Trace. Pack out everything that you bring with you.

Pack a towel if you so desire (Especially if you’re Arthur Dent). And don’t forget your copy of “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy."
