BILBO WAGGINS HAS BEEN WAITING FOR A HOME FOR 10 WEEKS!!!

He's been overlooked for too long.

Bilbo Waggins (also known as Roary) is a 3 year old Dachshund Pomeranian and still very much a puppy at heart. He’s playful, goofy, and full of personality.

This happy boy was rescued from West Valley Shelter and hasn’t stopped smiling since. He loves running in the yard, meeting new people and dogs, and would especially enjoy having a dog buddy to share life with.

Bilbo has a really sweet, social nature. He thrives in an active home with plenty of walks, hikes, and family adventures. Bilbo enjoys being part of a pack, whether that means other dogs, kids, or a crew of fun-loving humans. He’s affectionate, intelligent, and eager to please. He's making great progress with potty training. Because he’s curious and adventurous, he needs a secure home and yard to stay safe.

MYTH SURROUNDING FREE ADOPTIONS
There’s a persistent myth that free adoptions encourage animal abuse or neglect. This is simply not true. People with harmful intentions overwhelmingly avoid official adoption pathways which require screening and adoption counseling. They don’t want their pets spayed/neutered, nor do they want them microchipped where that animal can lead back to them. Instead, they seek (purchase) animals through unregulated sources like Craigslist.

Our adoption counseling process remains incredibly strong regardless of promotions, and we always reserve the right to deny an adoption if we don’t feel a good match has been made. Our priority is placing pets in safe, loving homes—we will never adopt out an animal simply to make space.

PETUNIAH NEEDS A HOME!!

Petuniah is a sweet and cheerful 3-year-old & 25lb French Bulldog who will quickly win you over with her adorable snorts and goofy personality.

Petuniah was sadly discarded by her previous family when she was no longer convenient for them. They had her since she was about 1 year old. It appears she had a litter of puppies and was possibly used for breeding. Her family had two other dogs and a new baby, and ultimately decided a third dog was too much to handle.

Despite her rough start, she’s proven to be incredibly resilient and full of joyful energy, ready to bring happiness to her new family.

Petuniah loves meeting new people and soaking up attention, happily curling up for cuddles or enjoying her daily walks around the block. She is affectionate, great with kids, and wants to be friends with everyone, always ready to share her big heart. She walks great on a leash and is doing wonderfully with potty training. She’s smart and motivated by treats, and really thrives when she’s engaged and surrounded by love.

Though she’s small, she’s surprisingly springy and can jump quite high, so a secure yard and supervision when she’s outside will help her stay safe and enjoy her time outdoors.

Petuniah is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all her vaccinations. Now she’s ready to find a family who will keep her safe, happy, and truly cherished!!

KLYDE ADOPTED 6/25 & BONNEY ADOPTED 6/22

Bonney and Klyde are lively, curious 4-month-old puppies. Both pups absolutely love their toys and thrive on playtime, whether it’s chasing, zooming around, or wrestling with other dogs. Bonney especially enjoys toys. She will entertain herself for ages, tossing them around and having the best time all on her own. Thanks to their time in foster care, they’re well socialized and comfortable around people and pups alike. After their playful bursts, they’re happy to curl up for snuggles.

Though their exact breeds aren’t known, Klyde appears to be a Smooth Fox Terrier mix, while Bonney seems to be part Smooth Fox Terrier and part Cocker Spaniel, with a little Beagle mixed in too!

They were rescued by Unity K9 Express Rescue & Outreach, a nonprofit that pulls adoptable dogs from the overcrowded Bakersfield shelter. The dogs are then transported to rescues across California, where they have a better chance of finding homes. Bonney and Klyde are now available for adoption at Shelter Hope!

Bonney and Klyde are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and ready for their forever families. Despite a tough start, they’ve shown nothing but sweetness and resilience, and they’re ready to begin the next chapter surrounded by love.

SPANIEL RADCLIFFE NEEDS A HOME!!

Spaniel Radcliffe was found near train tracks at a homeless encampment in Bakersfield, a city battling a severe stray dog crisis. With shelters overwhelmed and thousands of dogs at risk of euthanasia annually, Radcliffe’s chances would have been slim at the local shelter. That’s why for many years Shelter Hope has made it a priority to rescue dogs from Bakersfield, giving dogs like this sweet boy the best opportunity for care and a loving forever home.

Since arriving, he has proven to be gentle, affectionate, and easygoing. He is a 3-year-old Spaniel mix with a soft coat and soulful eyes who loves to smile! He’s super sweet and loves to cuddle and snuggle with his humans. Weighing 20 pounds, he has a calm and loving nature. Spaniel Radcliffe enjoys being around people, gets along well with other dogs, and loves attention. He does have some separation anxiety, so he would thrive in a home where someone is around most of the day.

Neutered and up-to-date on vaccines, Spaniel Radcliffe is ready for the safe, stable forever family he deserves!

We can't believe it's been almost 10 years since Shelter Hope appeared on Hollywood Live Today with Ross Mathews and the Bachelor Lorenzo Borghese!

COURTESY POST!

I received a call for help from a man who lives in Fontana.

He has three female adult cats and 5 kittens - 2 months old. He has them in cages and he is desperate. I don't want him to take them to the shelter.

If you cannot rescue/adopt/foster, please share this info with other cat rescue groups/people who might help?

His name is Christian. He also has 2 adult large, female dogs that I'm trying to help.
