Bow South Expeditions offers multi-day guided kayak tours of the lower Colorado River through Imperial National Wildlife Refuge and Picacho State Recreation Area. We have 2 to 4 days trips with a variety of activities to choose from for you and your friends, family, or business retreat. The lower Colorado River through Imperial National Wildlife Refuge and Picacho State Recreation Area is the long
est remaining natural stretch of this section of the river. In this area you can see what the Colorado River looked like before the construction of the various dams that changed the ecology. Old mines, ghost towns, abandoned steamship stops, and almost forgotten backwater lakes dot this area and are ripe for exploration. Wildlife that can be found include desert bighorn sheep, coyotes, beaver, bobcats, wild burros, osprey, owls, hawks, and eagles. Our multi-day trips we leave from Walters Camp, CA, and we paddle 14 miles into Imperial NWR and down to one of the boat-in camps in Picacho SRA. While there, we'll explore that many reed passages, old mines, ghost towns, and backwater lakes that this area is famous for. On the last day of our trip we'll paddle the remaining 12 to 15 miles down to the end of our adventure at Fishers Landing, AZ.
