We remember.

The story of the 9/11 boat lift would go largely under-reported for about a decade after the September 11 attacks. Even today, it is one of the lesser-known stories from that tragic day. Amidst the terror and tragedy of the day came those who answered the call when the city needed them most. A makeshift armada of about 150 commercial vessels of various types—tugboats, ferries, charter boats—would transport an estimated 500,000 people out of the disaster zone and to the safety of New Jersey and Brooklyn.
